The Best Way to solve Greasy Hair and Get Volume: Using Batiste New Cherry Scented Dry Shampoo
So anyone who reads our blog knows my love of dry shampoo. I like to be clean but I like to be quick too. So sometimes a quick bath in the morning, instead of a shower involving washing and drying my hair, is my much timelier option. Fortunately, with this dry shampoo you don't have to sacrifice style for the convenience of non-washed hair. I LOVE this new cherry scent Batiste Dry Shampoo. I have blogged about my more expensive choice before but for $7.99 this option is fabulous. I will definitely be saving my pocketbook to buy this cheaper alternative. The smell is great and Batiste has a lot of new scents to choose from now. I cannot go on about the many uses of dry shampoo. For updos I use dry shampoo to give me texture that helps hair to stay in place. Any hairstyle that involves a lot of volume will benefit from using dry shampoo at the roots first! One of the best things about this particular dry shampoo that I haven't noticed with others is that it even makes my hair feel clean. My sister, who is pictured below, called me later to go on about the same fact. It is very cool feeling when you spray it on which helps with that clean feeling. Then, it gives so much lift off the root that you feel like you just stepped out of the shower and had your hair blown out, only the way that a big round brush could make it feel. My sister said she is definitely going to go out and buy some. She said that she had tried others that made her scalp itch and that this one made her head feel so clean. I must say that I have to agree with her on all points! (My sister may want to kill me after telling everyone that this is her "greasy" head LOL, I did call her and tell her not to wash her hair, in her defense.) So you can buy this online at Ulta or Amazon or in most grocery stores like Kroger & Ingles.

DIY for the Big Bird Costume by Fairytale Jubilee seen on Access Hollywood Live
If you were watching Access Hollywood Live this morning you saw the amazing Big Bird costume worn by the lovely Natalia. Parenting Magazine's Sabrina James did a guest spot for the Halloween segment on the show this morning. One of the costumes featured was Big Bird, designed by my sister Alisha Collins of Fairytale Jubilee. The segment was about DIY costumes that are one of a kind and won't be seen on every kid on the block. Alisha created a how-to guest post on this fabulous feathered frock. Alisha was asked by Sabrina to design a Big Bird costume because of all of his recent popularity with the political debates. Since then the Big Bird costumes have been "flying" off the shelves. So if you were planning on going or having your children go as Big Bird you won't be finding a ready-made costume anywhere. We hope that our DIY feature will be helpful and that you enjoy seeing this costume as much as we did. The pictures you see feature hair and makeup by A Glamour Affair and the photographer was April Estes of Reflective Images Photography. The absolutely adorable little girl beneath all those feathers is Scarlett Sailors, daughter to one of our very best friends Heather.
XOXO,
Alisha Collins

A Glamour Affair Goes to Access Hollywood
We are so excited to be going to LA to do hair and makeup for the Halloween segment on Access Hollywood Live. My sister, Alisha Collins of Fairytale Jubilee, will have a costume featured in this segment. A Glamour Affair did a special photo shoot with Fairytale Jubilee with this particular costume and that is how this all came about. On Monday morning, when the Live version of Access Hollywood airs, we will be featuring a guest post on our blog by Alisha on a DIY version of the costume that will be featured on the show. We look forward to sharing some of Alisha's "magical" fairytale secrets right here on our blog. Believe me you will want to know some of her little secrets because they lead to the most amazing fairytale jubilee worthy creations. And in case you didn't know what the fairytale jubilee is I will share with you Alisha's little secret......
A story is told that daily at dusk there's held a Fairytale Jubilee.
The location is known only as: beneath the pink feathered Juniper Tree.
Anyone can attend for pure jubilation, so the story goes.
As long as they're dressed in "fairytale" from their head down to their toes.
So...What will you wear to the Jubilee?

Glamorous Halloween Ideas: How to Search Your Closet and Come Out With a Fabulous Halloween Costume
Here is the Glamorous idea: have a Halloween party inviting all of your girlfriends to arrive looking "Boo-tiful" in their favorite little black dress. The Halloween part comes in with hair, makeup, and accessories. Even if it's just going out to dinner you will still fit in at the restaurant of your choice with this type of costume. I suggest shopping at Marshalls or TJ Maxx for Betsey Johnson "Halloween" jewelry if you are looking for an inexpensive but fabulous accessory option. Of course you can buy them full price at Macy's. Sally's has some great Halloween eyelashes if that is the option you choose and I found a big selection of Halloween pantyhose by Leg Avenue at Sears.com. These options allow you to be sexy and classy at the same time.

A Glamour Affair does.......The Raven: A DIY Tutorial
Nisha and I just LOVE Halloween, so you can imagine how excited we are to blog about "Halloweeny" hair and makeup. So we decided to do........ The Raven. So first we set out to find an outfit. We knew we could get a good price on something at Marshalls so that is where we went first. Luckily, we found the PERFECT dress. It was black and had sequins and did I mention perfect? The best part was that it was only $16.99. Then I wanted to make a capelet with feathers to go along with the dress so it looked more "raven-ish". Below the picture set you will find a DIY tutorial on how to make the raven feather capelet, along with a hair and makeup tutorial. Our great photographer friend Lori Waddell of Lori Waddell Photography was the photographer for this fun little photo shoot. Click on the link to visit Lori's website to see more of her work. I hope you have as much fun with your Halloween costume as we did with this one!

Here is my tutorial for getting "The Raven" hairstyle. Feel free to post any questions below. I would be happy to answer!

Once you have finished the steps above you can just hot glue two ribbons to the inside edges of the capelet and tie it in a bow to keep it on.

Makeup & Hair Video Tutorial on the Heath Ledger Version of The Joker
Halloween is quickly approaching so Nisha and I want to help you out with your costume ideas. The video that we have here is a tutorial of the Heath Ledger version of The Joker from The Dark Knight. I really wanted to achieve that messy sweaty dirty look that he had in the movie. Watch our tutorial to find out how.

What you will need
1. Makeup Primer 2. Rigid Collodion for scarring 3. Spirit Gum 4. Fake Skin 5. Foundation Brush
6. Tube of White Cream Makeup 7. Black Cream Makeup 8. Red Lipstick 9. White Powder
The Joker in my pictures is my cousin Chase. The outfit that you see him wearing above was a custom design by my sister Alisha of Fairytale Jubilee. The pants and tie he bought at the store. Just talk to a local seamstress and you could have a vest and shirt custom made also. Visiting thrift stores and Goodwill stores is also a good idea to find similar items. His wig was a cheap Joker wig that I cut layers into. Then I used a black Gypsy Stick (hair chalk) on random strips of hair to add dimension to the wig. Then I added olive oil to make the hair look greasy.
Please feel free to ask any questions. I would be happy to answer!
